You can’t hide from love for the rest of your life because maybe it won’t work out. That’s not a way to live.- Erica Barry, Something’s Gotta Give
I hope that everyone had a happy Fourth of July celebrating with friends and family! Now that summer is in full swing, I thought that it would be fun to take a look at everyone’s favorite summer movie beach house from Something’s Gotta Give. The film stars Diane Keaton, who is my absolute favorite, and Jack Nicholson as two single yet successful baby boomers. As much as I love the story line though, it’s the clapboard shingle house that really steals the show. And to make things even more perfect, it’s located in the Hamptons.
The stunning beach house complete with the dream sports car too.
It seems that the house has been the inspiration for a thousand incarnations and it’s so easy to see why. The interior is done in a calming palette of blues and creams and features just enough antique European furniture pieces to give it some charm.
Doesn’t it just have the perfect beach house feel?!! I love that Swedish clock too.
How perfect are those dining room slipcovers? And the bead board behind the plates adds the perfect cottage touch.
Diane Keaton, who stars as Erica Barry, a successful, divorced Broadway playwright, uses the house on the weekends and often retreats to her gorgeous sanctuary of a bedroom where she writes or cries about her love life.
Erica and Harry on the beach. Unfortunately, Harry is the source of many of Erica’s tears.
Erica writing in her bedroom on one particularly tear filled night.
Harry on the sofa recuperating from his heart attack.
And of course, the perfect Hampton’s beach house wouldn’t be complete without a stunning kitchen.
Am I right or what?!!
No matter how many times I watch this movie, I really never get tired of it. And of course, I love the ending too. If only we could all spend the summer in such a dreamy house!
