This past fall when my mom and I visited Traverse City, Michigan we stopped in the American Spoon store and picked up some of their Cherry Peach Salsa and Pumpkin Chipotle Roasting Sauce so that we could make their Cherry Peach Pumpkin Chili recipe this winter. The perfect ice cold winter day finally arrived and we decided to get our dutch oven out and make up a batch of this amazing chili. The minute my mom tasted it she said it was THE best chili she’s ever had and that’s saying a lot as we have our own tried and true chili recipe that we’ve used for years.
The recipe was super easy to make and smelled heavenly cooking away on our vintage stove this afternoon. This chili is such an amazing blend of savory, spicy and sweet. The American Spoon Cherry Peach Salsa, which has hearty chunks of Michigan Peaches, gives it a sweet smoothness while the Pumpkin Chipotle Roasting Sauce gives it the perfect kick of heat. It’s also incredibly healthy as it uses ground turkey instead of beef (although you could substitute beef if you’d like). It’s definitely safe to say that this will be the best chili you’ve ever had!
Cherry Peach Pumpkin Chili
Serves 6 55 Min Easy
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 onion, diced
1 clove garlic, minced
1 1/2 pounds ground turkey
2 (15 oz) cans Great Northern or cannellini beans, drained
1 (28 oz) can stewed tomatoes
1 jar American Spoon Cherry Peach Salsa
1/2 jar American Spoon Pumpkin Chipotle Roasting Sauce
4 ounces canned green chilies, chopped
1 tablespoon cumin
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder
1. Heat the olive oil over medium heat in a medium-sized stockpot. Add the onions and sauté over for about 5 minutes. Add garlic and continue to cook for an additional 2 minutes. Add the ground turkey and sauté until lightly browned.
2. Add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 30 minutes. Serve immediately.
