The library is the jewel box. It’s design hyperbole.- Ramsay Gourd
Just a quick post today! When I came across this absolutely charming den in House Beautiful’s new issue I knew I had to share it with you. This cozy den is in a Vermont farmhouse and has a unique glamor all it’s own. The walls are a gorgeous high-gloss red that have a lacquer finish which I adore. There is literally nothing chicer than lacquered walls!! And since the room is small, the high gloss finish helps it to feel larger than it actually is.
The den is absolutely full of clever details all the way down to the custom toile fabric that the designer had made for the project. The owners wanted a traditional toile but designer Ramsay Gourd encouraged them to think out of the box. The fabric he designed is a cross between an ikat and a toile and incorporates the farm animals that you’d see in the village. Genius!
The red lattice ceiling is the perfect finishing touch and really helps the room to feel like a jewel box. It gives the room an extra touch of warmth too. I would love to curl up in this den this winter!
