An interior is the natural projection of the soul.- Coco Chanel
One of the hottest design trends, for 2019, is big bold wallpaper. Papered walls are finally back and the bolder the better. As a true wallpaper lover, I couldn’t be happier about this. There is nothing like a bold patterned wall to give a room interest and an instant sense of architecture. Wallpaper also gives a room a feeling of warmth and texture. All of my bedrooms growing up were papered and felt so cozy.
The patterns that are trending now cleverly use color and scale to achieve a modern, cleaner look. Florals, chinoiserie prints and geometrics have all been updated for today’s more streamlined interior. I’ve rounded up a few papers I love along with some ideas for how-to-use them in your space. Here’s to ringing in 2019 in style!
Powder room- A half bath is the perfect place to use a pattern that will make an impact. It will leave a lasting impression on guests and actually makes the space feel larger. // 1. Self adhesive red zebra wallpaper- I found this one on Etsy for a great price. It’s a copy of the classic Scalamandre favorite. It would make any space feel so chic. // 2. Scalamandre Zebras Wallpaper- The real deal. Timeless. Effortless. Glam. Adds a touch of drama to even the dreariest spaces.
Entryway- I like to think of the foyer as the calling card for your home. It tells guests what your space is all about and is the ideal place to make a statement. Don’t be afraid of going for a bold floral here as it’s a space that you won’t spend too much time in. // 3. Sanderson Home Papavera Wallpaper Collection- The bold color and large scale of this poppy print make it instantly modern.
Bedroom- There is nothing cozier than sleeping in a room with a timeless pattern. Papering the ceiling extends the eye around the room and makes a small space feel larger. A chinoiserie pattern adds a dash of the exotic. // 4. York Peaceful Temple Wallpaper- Chinoiserie never goes out of style and is a pattern you’ll never tire of. The blue colorway is so restful for a bedroom.
